Billionaires have attempted to destroy the American dream, but it lives on in our local small business owners! I made a decision back in January to spend less at big-box retailers in 2025 and here are some of the primary reasons why: -Constant Price Manipulation: Big box stores have capitalized off of their rise in popularity post Covid and have no intention of stopping. -The Effect on Local Economies: No one ever says “Man, I’d really love to live in a city that doesn’t have a downtown filled with unique stores and local shops.” If we want a bustling local economy, it’s up to us to support it! -Anti-Worker Policies: Big retailers do everything in their power to prevent the formation of worker unions. There’s no reason the richest companies in the world can’t pay their workers a livable wage or at LEAST offer a hospitable working environment. The good news is, there is an easy and effective way to fight back. Stop giving them your money! Choose local shops first, search for small business alternatives, and get involved in your community. When communities get crushed, everyone loses.
