We are thrilled to announce that a second SciShow's Residency has just wrapped production! The team knew they wanted to do another Residency after the first one was so successful. The only thing to decide was who the next Resident was going to be. SciShow received several suggestions and got to work researching amazing candidates for this opportunity. Ultimately, one familiar name stuck out. SciShow's Editorial Director, Daniel Comiskey, said, "We had a new freelance writer named Madelyn Leembruggen, who was pitching so many great ideas. She had recently completed her PhD in physics at Harvard, so maybe it shouldn't have been a surprise. But I looked into her, and in addition to some great science TikToks, she had given a funny TED talk that used physics to argue that every food could be classified as a soup, salad, or sandwich. I knew we had our second Resident. The goal of the program this year is the same as it was last: help launch the career of a promising young science communicator and get some amazing SciShow videos in the process. I can't wait for viewers to see what Madelyn has cooking." Please allow us to formally introduce you to Madelyn Leembruggen! Madelyn is a physics expert and a natural in front of the camera. She pitched, wrote, and hosted 10 episodes about everything from rainy weekends to the physics behind coffee spills coming out later this fall. Check out Madelyn's TEDx Talk here: https://youtu.be/SL4mRlqK-qo?si=0K-w92wdpUeBKFno. And keep an eye on the SciShow channel for Madelyn's episodes premiering in September!
