What a whirlwind it’s been lately. This world is on fire and that sometimes causes the urge to pull back a bit. But I remind myself that movement, in any way, is a form of resistance, and nothing good was ever done with your head in the sand and your back to the flames. I ran a race. Well kinda. The 25K at canyons a while back. I’d been longing to return to the trails for so long. I got to be there with the rest of the @craftsportswear tribe. They were the real racers. I got to cheer from the sidelines and help BTS. That’s fulfilling in the way that only this oddball trail community seems to understand. When it was my time to run, the rain was pouring and everyone was tuckered out. I got to go at it alone, but as always happens, got me to meet some great new friends. 4 hours of rain, and fog, and Matrix style back bends to dodge poison oak. I mostly succeeded. Red pill or Blue? I took a handful of both and chased it with yellow Gatorade. The best part, there wasn’t a single photo from the entire thing. Absolutely zero photo evidence that any of it happened. And somehow in this insane content creating monstrosity we’ve created and forced upon something that was once so pure and primal, I was elated. It felt so nice to get back to the real reasons we do this - to eat snacks that someone else brings, and move on two feet through the muddy trails with friends. And then I found a link in my spam folder and all of a sudden all these shots emerged from the archives. It’s also the anniversary week of that treacherous night run in the canyon a few years back. The night that set off the begging of the end of life as I knew it. I’m just so grateful to still be here, and for all of you for keeping me on this side. I like it here. Also, also… Steph wrote another book!! What an incredible human she is. In awe is her always. A few more fun things in the works with the @ifit team, that I can’t share quite yet, but so stoked about. And back to CA for Western States and those same trails in Auburn for the greatest single day race in all the world. Stoked to see you all there 🫶🏽 PC: @stevedoxey & inbox spam folder ✨ 🎵 @a.j.legrand ♡
